TIBURON PENINSULA LITTLE LEAGUE (TPLL) COVID-19 SITE-SPECIFIC PROTECTION PLAN (SSP) PROTOCOLS FOR A SAFE RETURN TO BASEBALL ACTIVITIES

1. Participation in TPLL activities at this time is intended to provide a safe, physically distant when possible, physical fitness activity for players, consistent with the County of Marin’s reopening guidelines and the State of California – HHS guidance effective January 25, 2021.
2. Teams may only use fields during their scheduled field time. There are no open times. All use is scheduled specifically by team and administered by coaches and a team parent.
3. Only TPLL recognized teams of the same group of players may have access to fields and equipment. Use is permitted by rostered players only. No extra players, siblings, “call ups,” or rotational players can practice with a team to which they are not rostered at any time.
4. There will be detailed logistics plans for drop-off and pick-up for each field, which will occur from separate locations.
5. Upon arrival, a team parent wearing a mask will check the temperature of each player and coach before they can enter the field.
6. No parents, grandparents, siblings, spectators, fans, or other people besides the team’s rostered players and coaches may be on practice or game fields at any times. Those that choose to watch from bleachers or observation areas MUST adhere to appropriate social distancing and mask guidelines.
7. Carpools are not permitted other than by members of the same family living in the same household. All players must arrive by parent or guardian.
8. All players and coaches should take their temperature before leaving for any practice or game and will be instructed that they are not permitted to attend if their temperature is over 100.4 degrees. Additionally, a team parent will check temperatures of players and coaches before practices or games commence.
9. All players and coaches will be instructed to stay home if they, or anybody in their common household, have any symptoms of illness including, but not limited to: temperature, cough, sore throat, sneezing, body aches, loss of sense of smell, difficulty breathing, or fatigue.
10. Players should bring their own bat, glove, helmet, batting gloves, or any other equipment in order to minimize the sharing of equipment. Should equipment need to be shared, it must be wiped down/sterilized by a coach before it is transferred to the next player.
11. All coaches, family members and players must wear a mask at all times. Masks should be worn throughout the entire activity until such time as the activity is concluded and the person leaves the field.
12. The Team Parent should bring hand sanitizer or wipes to practice if possible and make them available before and after practices and games. Players should bring their own sanitizer if possible.
13. TPLL will provide sanitation supplies for equipment, restroom cleaning, and hand washing. A Team Parent will be responsible for dispensing sanitizing spray before and after practices and games have ended.
14. Catchers should wear their own personally owned catcher’s gear, including their own personal glove. Should they not own their own equipment, the team gear may be used but MUST be sanitized before transferring to another player.
15. No handshakes, fist bumps, elbow bumps, or contact of any kind is permitted between players or between coaches and players.
16. Players should be kept 6 feet apart. If teams desire to have players sit for a discussion, players should do so in open areas, a minimum of 6 feet apart. Dugouts may not be used unless appropriate social distancing can be maintained.
17. Players are not permitted to gather or huddle around batting cages. A maximum of one player in the batting cage and two players waiting by the batting cage door (6 feet apart) is allowed. All other players should be elsewhere on the field, at least 6 feet apart.
18. Activity, gatherings or “extra” practice time of any kind before or after practices or games are prohibited. There is no hanging around the field before or after practices or games. A team parent should arrive early to assure that all protocols are followed and should not leave until all players have been picked up.
19. Parents and/or guardians responsible for player transportation should arrive promptly at the end of practices or games. Drop-off and pick-up locations and instructions will be clearly communicated to facilitate social distancing and to minimize congestion at drop-off / pick-up locations.
20. Non-baseball gatherings at the fields are strictly prohibited. There are no snacks after practices or games, no gatherings or celebrations of any kind. No food should be brought to practice and players should not share water bottles or other drinks at any time.
21. Coaches will lay out laminated cards 6 feet apart on the sidelines that reflect player names. Each player will find his/her card, place their equipment there and sit there when not participating in drills or games.
